Playwright, director, actor, and producer Charles Ludlam is photographed here in costume in December, 1970. Ludlam had created The Playhouse of the Ridiculous and the Ridiculous Theatrical Company in 1967 in part as a reaction to the artistic pretensions of Off-Off Broadway. Here he is seen as the Holy Fool in the card of the Last Judgement from his production of "The Grand Tarot".
