Jane Alexander and Sada Thompson, 1971

The distinguished stage and screen actresses Jane Alexander and Sada Thompson appeared together in a production of Eugene O’Neill’s Mourning Becomes Electra for the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre, Stratford, Connecticut, in the summer of 1971. Jack Robinson photographed them on May 6 that year. Jane Alexander had just appeared on both Broadway and in the film version of The Great White Hope, winning both a Tony and an Academy Award nomination. Sada Thompson had just received a “shower of awards” for her stunning performance in The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds.
