Gloria Vanderbilt Family, 1972

Gloria Vanderbilt, only child of the railroad heir Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt and a member of one of America’s richest families, had a fascinating childhood. In 1934, the ten year old Gloria was at the center of one of America’s most scandalous custody battles. Although she was raised in great privilege, she worked hard to develop her remarkable talents -- artist, socialite, actress, novelist, fashion designer, and entrepreneur. Here, Jack Robinson photographed Gloria Vanderbilt and her sons Carter and Anderson Cooper as they sit for a portrait. About 1972.
